Each section gives advice and tips that could be helpful before going to see the doctor. This includes advice about making an appointment, confidentiality, and what the appointment might be like.
If you’re visiting the practice, make sure to check out the new leaflet corner on Level 2, which has information for young people.

Annual Reviews:
- People with a learning disability often have poorer physical and mental health than other people. This does not need to be the case.
- It is important that everyone over the age of 14 who is on their doctor’s learning disability register has an annual health check.
- An annual health check can help you stay well by talking to clinician about your health and finding any problems early, so they can be sorted out.
- You do not have to be ill to have a health check – in fact, most people have their annual health check when they are feeling well.
- If you are worried about seeing a doctor, or there is anything we can do to make your appointment better, let us know.
Let the surgery know if we need to make any reasonable adjustments for you, such as:
- putting an appointment at the beginning or end of the day, if you find it hard to be in a busy waiting room
- using pictures, large print or simpler words to say what’s happening

NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service
Did you know about NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service ?
We are participating in a new approach to improve access for patients to GP appointments. The aim is to direct patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional, which may be a GP or a pharmacist.
From 30th January if your symptoms could be resolved by a booked consultation with the pharmacist instead of the GP, you will be given a same-day referral to a pharmacy of your choice.
We think this is a good thing. Once you see how great your local pharmacist is – they are highly trained and skilled clinicians experienced in treating minor illnesses – we don’t think you’ll look back.
This will also help us to free up GP appointments for people with more complex health needs and ensure that everyone gets treated at the right time, by the right healthcare professional.
We are keen to hear what you think and will be listening to your comments and feedback about your experience of using this service.
