Important Notice – Scam Email Alert !
We have been made aware that a scam email is currently being circulated to people in Sussex, claiming that they need to update their details in order to remain registered with their GP practice.
This email instructs recipients to install software as part of the process. Please be advised that this software is not legitimate.
There is no official programme—locally or nationally—requesting patients to confirm their GP registration details via downloaded software.
While GP practices may occasionally contact you to confirm or update your contact details, this would be done directly and through multiple trusted channels, such as letter, telephone call, or email. You would not be asked to download any external software.
An example of the fraudulent email received locally is shown below. Scam emails can often be identified by looking out for the following:
- Sender’s email address – Check whether it comes from a recognised, trusted source. Scammers often use subtle misspellings or variations.
- Subject line – Vague or alarming subjects like “Important message” or “Your account has been suspended” are common tactics.
- Content – Legitimate NHS emails will usually include your name. Look out for spelling or grammar errors, odd phrasing, or incorrect logos. Be wary of any messages that request personal information or create a sense of urgency (e.g. “Act now or lose your registration”).
- Inconsistencies – For example, the scam email claims it will identify your GP practice after you install software—this contradicts the warning that your registration could be changed or removed.
- Links, attachments, or downloads – Never click on unfamiliar links or download files from suspicious emails. If you're unsure, do not use contact information within the email. Instead, contact your GP practice directly using details from the official website or any trusted source you already have.
If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the surgery.
More advice on scams and fraud can be found on the Age UK website or on the National Cyber Security Centre’s website

Keep Warm and Well this Winter – Warm Home Check Service
As winter approaches, it’s vital that residents stay warm and well at home, especially those who are more vulnerable. The East Sussex Warm Home Check service is here to offer support, including impartial energy advice, small home energy efficiency improvements, and free assistance with heating repairs for those who are eligible.
Key support includes:
- Free advice on keeping warm for less
- Help with heating and energy efficiency improvements
- Support for those struggling with energy bills
- Help with emergency temporary heating
In addition, low-income households who do not heat their homes using a gas boiler could also be eligible for current government grant funding for larger energy efficiency improvements. Applications in East Sussex are open until the end of December.
Care providers and GP surgeries can signpost residents to this service to ensure those most at risk, including the elderly, those with long-term health conditions, or families with young children, can access the help they need.

Our Latest Call-Back feature
WE ARE ALWAYS STRIVING TO IMPROVE PATIENTS' EXPERIENCE!
From the 10th May, the phone system was upgraded to reflect that.
We now have a call-back option.
Patients are no longer required to wait in the queue until their call is answered. You can now opt for the call-back option, which means your place is kept in the queue while you go about your day, and when you reach the front of the queue, the system will automatically call you back.
You need to ensure you have the phone you called from with you and that you answer the call; otherwise, you will have to start the process from the beginning.

MMR call / recall
Measles Mumps and Rubella are highly infectious conditions that can easily spread between unvaccinated people. Getting vaccinated is important, as these conditions can also lead to serious problems including meningitis, hearing loss and problems during pregnancy. Two doses of the MMR vaccine provide the best protection against measles, mumps and rubella.
If you receive an invitation for an MMR vaccination from the national campaign that is currently being run, please book an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses by contacting the surgery after 2pm Monday – Friday on: 01424 464756.
