Flu Season 2022/23
We anticipate that our delivery will come in the week commencing 26th September.
This year we will be focusing on vaccinating the over 65’s and 15-64 at risk groups first. We will move onto the 50-64 year old cohort, after 24th October.
We will contact eligible patients once our delivery has arrived and invite them on our Saturday walk-in clinics.
Message to our patients – update on the COVID-19 booster programme
Thousands of people eligible for a Spring COVID-19 booster have not yet come forward.
The NHS in Sussex is calling for anyone who now due a second COVID-19 vaccination to book theirs this week.
Latest figures show that 116,628 of those who are eligible have had their spring or second booster, but 91,894 people are now eligible and are yet to come forward or be vaccinated.
With hundreds of appointments available this week, people are being urged to book theirs as soon as possible.
People are eligible for a spring or second booster if they are aged 75 and over or they are aged 12 years and over and have a weakened immune system.
People living in older people’s care homes are also eligible and specific visits are being planned in order to make sure these people get their vaccination.
In the majority of cases, people will receive the Moderna vaccination – one of the three approved vaccines in the UK widely used throughout the programme to date.
People can book an appointment from three months of the date of their original booster.
No invite is needed. The NHS is also calling on family members and friends to make sure their loved ones have received their vaccine if they are due.
Call 119 from 8am to 8pm or use the National Booking Service website to book a local appointment.
Walk in sessions are also available every day.

Annual Flu Vaccination 2021/22:
Who can have the flu vaccine? The flu vaccine is given to people who:
- are 50 and over (including those who’ll be 50 by 31 March 2022)
- have certain health conditions
- are pregnant
- are in a long-stay residential care
- receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick
- live with someone who is more likely to get infections (such as someone who has HIV, has had a transplant or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis)
- frontline health or social care workers
Influenza is a virus that infects many people each year, causing severe illness and sometimes death. The flu vaccination provides the best possible protection against this unpredictable virus.
The vaccination is free and recommended yearly for those who are most at risk of contracting influenza.
It is vital that you DO NOT attend for vaccination if you or a member of your household currently has symptoms of COVID-19 or if you are self-isolating due to contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.
If you are eligible for a flu vaccination, please give us a call to book in or send us a message on our Engage Consult platform.
Carers are also eligible for the free flu vaccination (as the welfare of the person may be at risk if the carer falls ill). I
If you do have an upcoming appointment at the surgery then your flu vaccination can be administered then.
HOME VISITING SERVICE:
PATIENTS PLEASE NOTE: From the week commencing the 4th of October 2021 the cut-off point for same day home visit will be at 12:00pm midday.

Patient Ethnicity Medical Records Update
This practice, in line with other healthcare providers now collect information about the ethnic group of patients. This information will help us learn more about patients’ needs and then allow us to plan services to meet the health needs of the entire community and ensure that everyone has access to healthcare services which meet their needs.
This information is asked for as part of the patient registration for their medical records, but to ensure our records we are wanting patients to update their ethnicity from one of the groups below.
Please note this refers to your immediate ethnicity NOT where you were born.
We will be sending texts to patients to update their ethnicity. If you have received a text from us asking for you to confirm your ethnicity, please respond by texting back your ethnicity group, e.g. White-Irish or Asian-Bangladeshi. Will then update your medical record.

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is changing
EPS is a free and easy secure service, which sends your prescription electronically from your doctor’s surgery to your chosen pharmacy. EPS is replacing the need for most paper prescriptions, working towards a paper free NHS.
Patients without a nominated pharmacy will automatically receive electronic prescriptions - a prescription token will be issued to you to take to any pharmacy.
More than 28 million patients already have a nomination. Their nomination will remain valid and nothing will change. The practice can track where and when your prescription was dispensed.
By using EPS, patients benefit from:
- collecting repeat prescriptions directly from their pharmacy without having to visit the GP
- paper prescriptions not getting lost
- less time spent waiting in pharmacies and GP practices
- a reliable, secure and confidential service
Patients can find out more by going to www.nhs.uk/EPS.

The NHS Friends & Family Test
The NHS friends and family test (FFT) is an important opportunity for you to provide feedback on the care and treatment you receive and to help us to improve services. Your answer is voluntary, but if you do answer, your feedback will provide valuable information to celebrate good practice, and identify opportunities to make improvements. If you would like to participate in the NHS Friends and Family Test, please complete the simple questionnaire available in the practice and post it into the Friends and Family Test collection box in the reception area.
